Look at those two adorable dogs! Now, don’t let their cuteness blind you to the important message that they are sharing. Those two dogs walked through the same mud puddle with very different results.
The greatest mental hurdle we go through in all of life, but especially in a weight-loss journey, is comparing. We look at those around us and think to ourselves, “It’s working for them but it’s not working for me. Why is everything easier for everyone else?”
The fastest way to become discontent is to compare yourself to others. The road you are walking is your road, it is not going to look just like anyone else’s. Your struggles and your victories will be unique.
Not only does the comparison breed discontent, but it also makes it a lot easier to make excuses. Often times we use our perception that something is working better for someone else as an excuse to stop working ourselves. This is a dangerous trap.
So don’t put your eyes on the people around you, keep your eyes on your goal. Your goal is personal and your path to get there will be personal. It will never look like your neighbor’s path. Don’t expect it to. Enjoy the journey that is set before you because it is a journey that only you can take.
